PBN provides system design and integration services, and is a key supplier of network infrastructure products and rollouts. PBN offers a comprehensive range of Australian designed and manufactured optical broadband products suitable for video, voice and data applications. PBN consists of two distinctive business units:
The Products Group
A leading supplier of optical broadband products used by broadcasting and IT&T companies. The group accommodates a research and development team in an in-house, state-of-the-art testing and certification laboratory. Our products group manufactures over 100 different products and has sales offices and representation in many countries around the world .
The Projects Group (PBNCONNECT)
Provides customers with network design, project management, installation services, commissioning services and turn-key solutions in the telecommunication, broadcasting, information technology, broadband and CATV markets.
(2) History
Founded in 1981 as MMT Australia, the company focused on the leading edge technology of broadband transmission products and services. In 1991, MMT provided Telstra Australia with advanced optical fibre transmission products for CATV and narrowcasting, and with NEC was the first company in Australia to offer optical fibre-to-the-home. Two years on, Pacific Dunlop Limited acquired MMT, and formed a specialised broadband group called Pacific Broadband Networks (PBN). By mid-1996, PBN achieved ISO 9001 accreditation, and launched its Beijing sales office – China continues to be its strongest market. In April 1997, Telecommunications Services acquired PBN from Pacific Dunlop. PBN's major shareholder and Managing Director, Mr Peter Saglietti , has been with the company from its inception in 1981 to a business which now boasts 70 staff with offices in Victoria, Queensland and China, together with distributors in the US, Europe and South East Asia.
The decision to export in 1994 … to take PBN's technology offshore and the company's decisiveness to select China as the benchmark for its products has had a lot to do with PBN's strong sales growth. Sales have remained strong because we have built on long-standing relationships and have committed strongly to research and development. Today PBN is at the forefront of optical broadband transmission product development – offering Ethernet based fibre-to-the-apartment/business/ home and HFC optical products.

PBN is a registered trademark and business owned and operated by Telecommunication Services Pty Ltd. Telecommunication Services Pty Ltd has two major shareholders, Mr Bill Zhang and Mr Peter Saglietti . Both Bill and Peter have been with the company for over ten years.
PBN continues to enjoy significant success with a recorded growth of 25% per annum. The company is fully funded through cash flow and operates on a commercial basis with no institutional or government investment.
