About the Product

The Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifier (EDFA) has been designed for CATV, FTTH and HFC applications. The EDFA module is suitable for long haul transmission networks or FTTH distribution networks. This optical amplifier is packaged in a 19”, 1 RU rack mount housing to provide a complete optical communications solution.


The output power available is from 20 mW to 1280 mW (13 dBm to 31 dBm). Up to 80 mW, a single pump laser is used. The larger EDFA units employ up to four pump lasers in a multi-stage design with inter-stage isolators.


The EDFA is designed to extend a 1550 nm CATV system fibre without need to convert back to RF. Combined with our LTE153 externally-modulated laser transmitter; system ranges of up to 100 km are possible.
