ODN4P

Optical Distribution Node 1000 MHz Segmented

About the Product

The Light Link® Series 2, deep fibre Optical Distribution Node ODN4P is a prime building block for high performance networks, designed for adaptability, scalability and optional return path segmentation.  The configuration options are well suited for Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) networks with smaller nodes and very high traffic handling capability for Internet and telephony.

This node employs advanced modular technology to provide a cost effective and flexible solution for expanding network architectures.

The optical distribution node may be configured with one optical receiver for a single fibre feed, or two optical receivers with an automatic AB protections switch for ring networks.   The return path can be equipped with one uplink transmitter for all four RF ports, but segmentation is possible with two, three or four uplink transmitters.  With four uplink transmitters there is an optional CWDM filter to put all segments on one return fibre.

The node features very high RF level outputs up to 1000 MHz and in many instances no line extender amplifiers would be needed.  However, each RF port has also a power inserter to facilitate remote powering of line extender amplifiers when needed.

The ODN4P node return path transmitters include a 4.5 MHz pilot generator for easy return path alignment.  When used with the PBN RPQRM return path receivers, fully automatic RF gain control is possible.  The pilot also carries an FSK signal with all vital node monitoring parameters and this data is available in the headend on the chassis display as well as in SNMP format for use in management networks.

Features

  • Advanced GaAs RF hybrid technology provides excellent performance with two or four individually amplified high level outputs with more than 50 dBmV each at 1000 MHz.
  • Suitable for NTSC/PAL analogue television transmission, together with DVB digital television and DOCSIS cable modems.
  • Configurable options with up to 5 installed modules at any time. Options for one or two forward receivers with AB switching are available. One, two, three or four return transmitter options can be fitted to suit fibre protection switching and return path segmentation.
  • Up to 2 forward path equalisers, one for each pair of RF ports (one per boat).
  • Auto-ranging power supply for 60/90 Vac coaxial cable feeds. With dedicated KS 5/8” AC input port.  No power inserter needed at the node.
  • Return path pilot signal on 4.5 MHz for easy alignment and node status monitoring.
  • Return path lasers are available for 1310 nm or for CWDM applications on one return fibre with 1510/1530/1550/1570 nm.
  • Return path CWDM combiner available to fit inside the node enclosure.
