The Light Link ® Series 3 Forward Path Control Module, the FPCM has been designed to provide a network pilot for control functions in optical nodes out in the field.
Operating over an agile frequency range of 80 to 90 MHz, the FPCM enables forward path control without interference to any existing program channel allocations.
The FPCM module works in conjunction with NMS3 software and allows the operator to control any particular optical node in the network.
Control functionality includes forward path receiver A-B switching, remote return path attenuation settings per port, plus headend control over the node's return path ingress levels via a multi-level ingress control function. Problematic return path ingress noise can now be identified and controlled remotely by systematically stepping the attenuation on each of the node's individual return path streams, and minimising service interruptions.
This module functionality provides a fast and economic solution to what would normally require lengthy on field diagnostics to locate the source of return path ingress noise. The FPCM, combined with PBN NMS3 allows the operator to remotely diagnose and pin-point the source of ingress. |
