• Limited bandwidth - up to 500 MHz.
• Equipment utilising multi mode optical fibre
  is generally much cheaper.
• Splicing and installation terminations are
  not as critical as single mode optical fibre.
• Termination is simple and lower in cost than single mode optical fibre terminations.
• Generally used within buildings for data applications.
